Traveling Conversations
When three good friends, Jean Warren, Elaine Frenett and Floy Zittin, were separated by family moves they decided to keep in touch through their art. Our July show is a complete collection of the watercolor 'conversations' that occurred between these three from 2005 to 2010. We hope that you'll join us on July 9, 5pm to 8pm, at Viewpoints Gallery to help us celebrate the bond of friendship and art.

Diana's Truck
Diana Jaye painted in Occidental in June at the Occidental Art & Ecology Center with 8 other painters. They stayed in beautiful yurts and had 3 delicious vegetarian meals a day. Most of the ingredients came from the OAEC organic gardens. After painting many gardens and flowers, Diana and the other painters found this great GMC truck in the woods. It seemed really happy to be there.

Abstracts
Viewpoints has been known as a gallery showing mostly traditional work but this month we challenged ourselves to try something different and tackle an abstract. Everyone had fun with the project and there was a lot of discussion about what constitutes an abstract painting. Here are a couple of the paintings on display.
Carol Mead began with an images she remembered from the aquarium which she thought made an interesting abstract design.
Barbara con Haunalter likes to paint seascapes in muted colors. Here she has simplified her shapes, used a lot of texture and a vivid palette.
Come see what the rest of the artists came up with. This show will be hanging until the end of the month.
